First of all I would like to extend a thank you to everyone that read my first blog post. I received an email today from Weebly that said I had 55 views in my first week!!! I am SO excited! I was certain that only my husband and mother would read these posts! YAY!
If you thought I was excited about Vegas, wait until you read this post on cruises! The first cruise I went on was back in May of 2006. I graduated from a very small, private, Christian school. By small I mean we had 19 people in our graduating class. The whole class...seriously. The benefit of this was that as seniors we were able to take a week long trip to celebrate finishing school. Our class voted on a Royal Caribbean cruise to the Bahamas and Key West.
I will be honest, I was SO nervous to go on a cruise. I had never been on a cruise and had only heard the horror stories of getting sea sick or storms coming up. Plus I mean I am a HUGE fan of the movie Titanic...enough said. Despite the fear, I boarded the plane (my FIRST plane ride as well!) and off we went to Miami. We boarded the Majesty of the Seas, which is currently Royal Caribbean's smallest ship, and I immediately fell in love with cruising! Since that cruise, I have cruised four more times. In August of 2006 I went with my family on a Carnival cruise to Key West and Mexico. It wasn't until September of 2013 before I cruised again, this time for mine and Will's honeymoon. We went on Royal Caribbean's Allure of the Seas (the WORLD'S largest cruise ship and it was voted Best Cruise Ship for 2014 by Travel Weekly). We took the Allure the following year for our 1 year anniversary. Then in February of 2015 we went on Royal Caribbean's Enchantment of the Seas (their second smallest ship).
Cruising is the ultimate vacation. You have not vacationed until you have cruised. Imagine being able to eat whenever and however much you want at all times of the day...for free (okay it's not really free because you have already paid for it all...but at the time it feels free!). Cruising is much more than the food. It's so cool going to sleep in the middle of the ocean, and then waking up in a gorgeous, tropical island. The places you can go are gorgeous, and there are SO many options. The Caribbean, Alaska, Hawaii, Europe, the Mediterranean, Asia: the opportunities are endless! With each port-of-call there are countless excursions to participate in. Whether it's chilling at a private beach or being adventurous and taking a ride on a giant zip line course, there are activities for all ages and energy levels.
Food, destinations...so what about the ships? There are several varieties of ships and cruise lines to choose from. Personally, we are Royal Caribbean cruisers. RC isn't your only option though. There are multiple cruise lines and each have their own "thing" that makes them stand out. The reason why we like Royal Caribbean is because out of all the cruise lines, they seem to be the one line that is consistently building ships that are the most up to date, the most technologically advanced, better food options (isn't the picture I posted so appropriate because I literally CAN NOT stop mentioning the food), and they are always promoting AWESOME deals.
People are always telling us, "You cruise ALL the time!" The reason why we are able to do this is because of the awesome promotions. Some of the best promotions are from booking on board. Whenever we are on our cruise, on day two Will and I go to the booking office and check out the deals that are currently being promoted. The past two times we have booked, Royal Caribbean was promoting a BOGO deal where your second guest is 1/2 price. We basically booked 2 cruises for the price of 1- AMAZING!
Currently Royal Caribbean is having a 72-hour cyber sale! Click the link to check out the deals they are offering! http://www.royalcaribbean.com/cruise-deals/offers/june-cyber-sale?icid=cybrwk_tctclp_jnc_gnrlmr_cntntr_5619
The amount of activities on the ships are endless. There are multiple options of activities for every hour of the day. Some cruise ships have giant screens by the pool that they play movies or sporting events on nightly. It's so much fun to sit pool side (or IN the hot tub) and watch a movie! There are always some sort of pop culture trivia going on, bands playing, activities for kids, or sports activity you can participate in. Every night there is some sort of show whether it's a Broadway musical production, a comedian, an ice skating show, or an aquatic acrobatics show. The shows are always WELL done and entertaining. Each ship has different shows and types of entertainment so it's unlikely that you will see the same production twice! There are also several game shows each night. The top two game shows on Royal Caribbean are The Love and Marriage Game Show and The Quest. The Love and Marriage Game Show is your modern day Newlywed Game. There are three couples chosen from the audience: A newlywed couple (married less than one year), a middle-aged couple (married 5-25 years), and a "seasoned" married couple (married 25+ years- they always choose the longest married couple). It is a hilarious show and they actually record it and it is played over and over on your stateroom TV. The Quest is an adults-only scavenger hunt. I can't even start to explain The Quest. You just have to book a cruise on Royal Caribbean and experience it!
This is a very brief overview of cruises, but I will do a more detailed post soon! I will definitely be posting about the Allure of the Seas as well as some tips and tricks when it comes to cruising!
